Connection to the Arts
What does the arts community in Brownwood mean to you?
The arts community in Brownwood means a great deal to me because it provides a place where creativity is valued and encouraged. It connects artists, performers, and supporters while creating opportunities to learn, collaborate, and inspire others. It's an important part of what makes Brownwood special.
Do you have a favorite type of art (visual art, theatre, music, dance, etc.)? Why?
Although I admire and respect all art forms, I have a special place in my heart for performance art; be it theatre, music, or dance. Growing up in the theatre, as well as spending a large portion of my youth playing an instrument in an orchestra setting, it has always been an important part of my world, and I would not be who I am today without that influence. Live music is also an often-overlooked art form and I am a huge advocate for live musicians and love that Brownwood has such a vibrant music scene.
Favorite local arts event, program, or project :
I love all the projects and events that Brownwood puts together! Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit, however, is a wonderful event for so many reasons, but I especially love that it makes the arts accessible to all walks of life, particularly the youth of Brown County.
Personal Spotlight
Hobbies or interests outside of work and the arts :
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, exploring, learning new things, playing pickleball, and watching lots of football in the Fall! Haha!
Favorite place in Brownwood :
This is such a hard question! There are so many great places that I enjoy! Currently, my favorite place to hang out and enjoy a delicious meal is at the new Fairway Club downtown! For a fun evening of live music, you can’t beat Pioneer Taphouse. And of course, we can’t forget the Brownwood Lyric Theatre for its incredible performances!
Vision for the Arts
What excites you most about the future of the arts in Brownwood?
What excites me most is seeing the arts continue to grow in our community. I look forward to more opportunities for local artists to showcase their talents and for residents to experience and support the arts in meaningful ways.
What impact do you hope the Arts Council continues to have in the community?
I hope the Arts Council continues to be a driving force for creativity, education, and community engagement in Brownwood. By supporting local artists, expanding access to arts programs, and helping to create opportunities for people of all ages to experience and participate in the arts, the Council can continue to enrich lives and strengthen our community. I also hope it helps foster a greater appreciation for the arts, inspires future generations of creatives, and contributes to the cultural and economic vitality of Brownwood.
