Connection to the Arts
What does the arts community in Brownwood mean to you?
To me, the arts community in Brownwood is a family.  We all share a love for various avenues of the arts, are practicing to refine our talents and skills, and seeking to share that passion and encouraging inclusion with others.  I have found it very encouraging to be surrounded by artistic people because they know that the journey toward the end result is just as precious and meaningful for the artist as the end result is for those who get to enjoy the final product.

Do you have a favorite type of art (visual art, theatre, music, dance, etc.)? Why? My favorite form of art is the visual arts, specifically painting, and
Theatre!  I love the storytelling and character-development aspects of live theatre and how impactful a live performance can be on a person.

Favorite local arts event, program, or project :
I love the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit!  We have loved going just to see the local and regional talent, but also since Family Day has been incorporated into their 3-week long itinerary, our children are finding out new ways to -literally- get their hands into creating different kinds of visual art.

Personal Spotlight
Hobbies or interests outside of work and the arts :
Gardening, Audiobooks, Cooking

Favorite place in Brownwood :
I know it sounds cheesy, but… Home

Vision for the Arts
What excites you most about the future of the arts in Brownwood?
Brownwood has always supported the arts.  Our Arts Council of Brownwood has been in almost continuous operation since the 19__, and strives to find as many arts-related events as possible to sponsor for the benefit of our community.
Since Brownwood was designated as a Texas Music Destination last year, I am very assured that the same foundation that was laid many years ago will continue.  And who knows - maybe one day we will achieve the designation as a cultural destination, too.

What impact do you hope the Arts Council continues to have in the community?
My hope and my working goal as Chair for the ACB is that we will be able to give more and more each year as we seek out community initiatives, events, and projects to financially support.  I want for more of the community at large to benefit from these events and projects, and be able to have a meaningful encounter with the arts that we support.
